Yelp Elite Sydney event: Wonderful Art & Wine Evening @ Gaffa

On Thursday night I was invited to, and attended, another Sydney event held by review site Yelp. This one was called the Yelp Elite Sydney event: Wonderful Art & Wine Evening @ Gaffa.

It was just the sort of thing these things should be: a chance to hang out, meet folks, have fun, and learn something new about the city.

I’d never heard of the venue, Gaffa, before but thought it was a really cool art space, and uniquely laid out. They had separate rooms downstairs, making it easy to stage little micro-events (a DIY art wall, a ping-pong room). There was a larger, more typical art-gallery space upstairs. They also had a shop with great examples of Australian craftsmanship.

The snack-size food, supplied by Black Star Pastry, was spectacular, from the truffle-gorgonzola tarts to the beef pies (yum!) to the black forest cake.

There was live jazz, New Zealand’s Giesen wines to sample, the chance to win prizes, the opportunity to say hi to Yelp Elite folk I’ve met before, and to meet some for the first time.

I’m only sorry that I wasn’t able to stay as long as I would have liked. I’ll go to every Elite event I can, no question.

There are some photos from the evening here.

“No, I’m pretty sure those handmade bracelets were wine-stained by the designer.”
