The Ides of March

I saw political thriller The Ides of March the other night. It was solid, an interesting and engaging film.

Clooney is becoming a very competent director, and he wisely chose the harder target of showing the hypocrisy and weaknesses of his own side of the American political spectrum.

It was not a surprising film though; even if I hadn’t know the rough story arc, I’d have known which direction things were going in as soon as Paul Giamatta’s character said “I might have to steal him from you” and when Ryan Gosling’s character earnestly talks about believing so strongly in George Clooney’s character.

Worth watching for anyone who likes political dramas.
