The Wire: the best TV show ever

My brother Dan said, years ago,: watch The Wire. It’s a great show.

Over the last few years I’ve watched all five seasons of the HBO programme about Baltimore and the cops, drug-dealers, kids, dock workers, city officials, teachers, and journalists. Today I watched the last episode, which aired a few years ago now.

It’s not just a great show. I think it’s the best TV show that has ever been made.

It’s intricate and complex and gritty and smart and unforgiving and revealing and requires investment. If you like engaging, challenging portrayals of real life, get the DVDs.

You do not want to cross this man.
