Toy Story 3

Pixar seems unable to place a wrong foot. I saw Toy Story 3 at the cinema last night and it was a joy, just like the others. There’s excitement and laughs and danger and romance and messages of friendship and loyalty. Ken and Barbie cracked me up. And there are all sorts of toys that you had when you were a kid. It ends the trilogy on a very good note, too.

It was a 3D showing, and the effects weren’t overused. In fact I’d say there’s not much difference in a 2D/3D viewing here, but the 3D edges it just marginally.

The best thing about having the Hayden Orpheum as your local cinema is that its lavish art deco style makes just sitting there an experience. The second best thing about it: no kids. There wasn’t one in our Friday night showing of this film. In fact, despite being in the Orpheum’s largest cinema there were only about 40 people there I reckon.
