Trying new stuff in London

I woke up this morning wondering what to do today. I went to Timeout’s London website, since they have event listings you can search by date.

Right there, on their front page:  40 things to do in London on a Sunday.

We picked two.

First off, we went to Holland Park to see the Kyoto Garden. It’s not big or wonderful enough on its own to warrant a cross-city trip, but it was only a side-trip for us as we were taking the Central Line anyhow. It’s a pleasant thing to discover and to know about, though: a spot of simple tranquility.

After that we got back on the tube and made our way to East Village, an oasis of tolerable cool in the midst of too-cool-to-bear Shoreditch. They do a Sunday roast with a DJ spinning chilled-out reggae: perfect for a cold, snowy weekend afternoon.
