Qype event: beer tasting at Belgo

Thanks again, Qype! Last night they took a lucky few of us down to Covent Garden’s bustling basement branch of Belgo for a tasting of their Oktoberfeast menu. There were about 10 folks invited by Qype, once again with faces both familiar and new.

Our host, Sam, helped us order beers and explained the origins of some of the things on the menu. He told us loads about Belgian beers, obviously a varied subject. I learned that only Trappist beer is made by monks inside a monastery, whilst Abbey beer can be made by others under license and is more of a product marketing thing.

I certainly got to eat some fat, juicy mussels, and sample 3 ales ranging in style. Result!

I had to leave before dessert, unfortunately, since I had a ticket to see The Duke Spirit at the Astoria. They were great, as always.
