The pellet with the poison

It’s now a cliché to point out the all of your memories from youth are on YouTube. Nevertheless…

Yesterday the Aussie and I were sitting in our back yard, enjoying a jug of Pimms on the only sunny Saturday in what feels like forever. I was thinking about the jug – a wonderful gift from PC, as it happens – and considering aloud whether it should properly be called a jug or a pitcher or some other type of vessel.

That triggered a memory of vessels and flagons: the duelling scene from the classic Danny Kaye film, The Court Jester. My parents love that film, had it on VHS, and watched it a lot. It’s therefore part of my childhood. The Aussie and I immediately started thinking about. Sixty seconds later we had found it on YouTube.

Enjoy. Remember, the pellet with the poison is now in the flagon with the dragon, and the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true. Uh, I think.
